You Are Not Alone

Life is one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given, but it can be frustrating at times. The concept of living out my life is simple but the reality of it can be a struggle; it is a package with many parts just like God. The Blessed Trinity is a mystery, having three persons in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.” In the Latin tradition, our right hand goes from our forehead, downwards to the stomach, upwards to the left shoulder, then to the right.

Being accustomed to doing the basics, being taught at an early age, being influenced and formed in my faith. I grew up knowing that prayer would always shed light on my world even in difficult moments.

Growing up, I began to face more responsibilities and duties, and I became more independent. My opinions on my life were thought to be lived out by my own will. I never wanted people to be involved with my affairs and all the little problems that come occasionally, which may cause them any harm or trouble. Although my mindset was made with good intentions, I came to realize that keeping everything to myself would not make anything better. I had to become open to myself and others: mind, body, soul, and heart. But what I really needed was God. God existed and was present all throughout my life waiting for me to respond. God was waiting. He was waiting for me to allow him to take the lead in all the circumstances that I will have to go through. Letting go of myself and coming to terms that do not have to go on my journey alone and being able to rely on the God who saves.

I came to that point where I am right now through the power of prayer, and to consider the lessons I have learned. To allow the Word to flow into my thoughts, to purify my mind, to make my words and actions reflect God’s image, and to strengthen my heart all for a deeper communion with Jesus.

The teenage years are a time to find yourself, to make sense of your strengths and weaknesses, and to face what life outside of the comforts of home is like. And through all of this, acceptance is needed to confront any situation you must go through. Obviously accepting something that doesn’t always necessarily go your way is difficult to overcome and do. For me, I find it hard to be in an environment where I can’t fully express my faith when I’m outside where my beliefs are shunned, and where the friends that I have made aren’t the best people who will help me move towards Christ. But as a believer, this should not stop me from being the person who I am. This should not prevent me from speaking truth, and truth itself which is Jesus. I do it all for Jesus who laid down his life for me and you.

Let us live just as he did. If prayer gives me the strength to live life everyday, how much more has Jesus put into his prayer to the Father in his crucifixion. Lastly, mean what you say and say what you mean. Whether you speak and participate with your mind, you must remember to speak with your heart.
